My Weight Watchers Diary

I started Weight Watchers point counting this past March 07. My Mom has lost 16 pounds and she shared some of her info with me to get me started. Let's just say I need to loose substantially more than 16 pounds. Since I'm not attending meetings, I thought I would start keeping a little diary of my progress.

So far it has been surprisingly easy to stay well under the amount of daily points I could consume. Above and beyond my daily points you also have 35 Go Wild points a week. I've not had to use them. Weight watchers markets many low point foods like bagels, bread, muffins, yogurt, ice cream and smoothies. I've stocked up on all of them. I think the trick is keeping your stomach filled with things that satisfy. For breakfast I'll have a bagel, coffee, sugar free jam. Mid-morning when the first sign of hunger hits... I down a smoothie or yogurt to tied over until lunch. I can truly say, I'm never hungry.

Coffee is my big downfall because I love my lattes. Well 1 cup of my Skinny Cow fat free milk is 2 points and the coffee is 0. So 2 lattes a day fits into the plan rather nicely. (Alright, some days I have 3).

I really need to get a new scale. Mine is so inaccurate. I can step on and off and the difference in weights is 8 pounds. I have a digital scale in work and this week I will start weighing in on that.

So for the next few weeks I'll update this post with my comments and progress.

WEEK 1 - Weight Loss - 6 pounds

Very easy to follow. By the end of the week I could feel that I had lost weight.

WEEK 2 - Weight Loss - 3 pounds - TOTAL 9

Week 2 was the first time I needed to attend an event outside the home. A surprise party for my wife's cousin. I found it easy to count points. Even indulged in a 1 point light beer. Ordered the fish for dinner and skipped the pasta appetizer. I did blow it big time by having a slice of birthday cake. (Who would have guessed one slice would be 12 points. But amazingly I still only went over my daily points by 4 and since most other days I was under by 10+ I still manged to lose a few pounds.

WEEK 3 - Weight Loss - 6 pounds - TOTAL 15

My belt is tightening one loop lower. Still having no problem staying under my points. I would like to start having a little more variety. Not for dinners. There I do a good job alternating Chicken, Fish etc. It's the snacks... I'm getting a little tired of yogurt and smoothies. I will have to continue eating them for a few more weeks since they were on sale at the supermarket and my wife had coupons for them so we are stocked ahead a few weeks. Perhaps popcorn?

WEEK 4 - Weight Loss - +2 pounds - TOTAL 13

Monday - Week 4 starts and I'm happy that I've averaged 5 pounds a week. Still a long way to go. I passed on ham last night and had a tuna steak on the BBQ instead. Then I looked up lean ham and see it's about a point an ounce. So tonight I'm looking forward to some leftovers.


WEEK 5 - Weight Loss - 10 pounds - TOTAL 23

Monday - A depressing start to the week. According to my scale, I gained 2 pounds. Of course the scale gives me a different weight every time I step on it. I need to weigh in on the digital scale at work. Wednesday- I bought a new digital scale. Very accurate, but very disappointing. I'm actually 10 pounds more than what I was on my old scale. Tough to lose the same ten pounds again. Nevertheless, I tried on some jackets that didn't fit a few weeks ago and they fit fine now, so I have lost, and that's a good thing.


WEEK 6 - Weight Loss - .4 pounds - TOTAL 24.6

Sunday - This week I decided to move my weigh in to Sunday morning since the spreadsheet I use is set up Sunday-Saturday. New scale and great news --- 10 pounds now at a total of 23 since I started. Still finding it very easy and I'm never hungry. I also tend to find myself planning ahead for dinners etc. Bought some Egg Beater eggs. 1/2 cup is 60 cal with no fat. Mixed with peppers and eggs and a slice of WW rye for breakfast and had a hearty 2 point omelet and toast. Wednesday - Snuck a weigh in and I gained a few pounds. It can't be! Still have 4 days to knock something off before the official weigh in.

WEEK 7 - Weight Loss - 0 pounds - TOTAL 24.6

Sunday - Only .4 pounds this week. Depressing.


WEEK 8 - Weight Loss - 0 pounds - TOTAL 24.6

Sunday - Another depressing week. Didn't lose a thing. This week I'm cutting back to 25 points.


WEEK 9 - Weight Loss - 6 pounds - TOTAL 30.6

Sunday - Success! I knew it had to happen sooner or later. 6 pounds and I feel great. 25 points has been no problem. Hope I can keep the downward spiral going.


WEEK 17 - Weight Lose - 3 pounds - TOTAL 54

Wow it's been a long time since I posted an update here. Guess people thought I gave up. Nope! 54 pounds and still motivated to lose more.
