The new bill makes you pay taxes on what your employer pays for your healthcare - FALSE
The bill will include a 3% taxes on the sale of your home - partly FALSE - it will tax anything over $250,000 for a single person and $500,000 for a married couple. Since my home is now worth less than $500,000 I have nothing to worry about. If you live in a million doll or plus mini- mansion I think you can afford it.
Insurance companies are already raising rates 30% - Partially FALSE - I checked my benefits brochure which list the actual amount my employer pays. No substantial increase from last year.
Those were just a few of the lies. Here's a fact. If Health Care reform had not passed this year, my son, who graduated college this June would no longer be eligible for my health care. In order to keep him covered, just for health care, I could extend his benefits under COBRA at the cost of $600 per month. Is that an amount anyone fresh out of college can afford?
If we couldn't afford that, he would have to opt for lesser coverage or possibly take the risk, as many do, of having no health care. I didn't even investigate the monthly cost of dental care. Having no health or dental means you're one accident away from bankruptcy. I recently had my first root canal and also required a new tooth. I was shocked that even with coverage I had to pay over $800 out of pocket.
With new health care reform, my son can stay covered under both my medical and dental plan until the age of 26, at no additional cost. It should be pointed out that the cost of the family medical plan is $22,600 per year. I don't have the dental numbers in front of me. So at the very least, Obamacare has saved me $7,200+ next year. If it's funded by people selling their multi-million dollar homes, don't expect me to shed a tear.
I don't see how any repeal or revamping of healthcare will be to my benefit, or the benefit of any family that has a child under the age of 26 and no longer in college. Between today and the time both my children turn 26, I will have saved more than $65,000. Probably with dental, over $100,000 in just 5 years.

Our family plan health care was 1500.00 a month (3 people) in 2009 and in 2010 it went up 400.00 a month. We now pay over 1900 a month. My house is worth 530,000, it cost us 580,000 7 years ago. So in my opinion I lost money and now the government would like to take 3% more and I am not a multi millionaire. Hopefully it is 3% on the gain??

This article explains that insurance companies need to justify increases and the increase are minimally attributable to ObamaCare. It would have happened with or without it. The major healathcare provisions don't kick in until 2014.
The sad thing is when you read the comments on that article. No one believes it. Today people believe what they want or what gets emailed to them and even when it's proven wrong they still believe it. I don't see mush future for real discussion in this country.
The good news is when Ryan is out of college you can keep him under the family plan. In the past you would have had to get him his own plan after college which would have been much higher. And that will be much more in savings until he's 26 than the 3% on the sale of a home.
When both of my kids are out of college, my health plan would drop to 16,000 for just the 2 of us, but both kids would be paying $600 a month.... that would only be 18 month of COBRA then they's have to get their own plan which would probably be double that amount.
